These X-beam rods are full-machined and shot peened, they are with rifle drill design which puts a small pathway through the rod center to the wrist pin, it allows pressurized oil from the rod bearing to the wrist pin, reducing the wearing and friction between the rod and piston to extend wrist pin and bushing life. But it is not required .
